Product Specs:
The plant has produced a total of some 24000t of Stainless Steel Billets of almost every grade commercially manufactured. Following the severe slump in the world stainless steel markets, the operation was conveniently adapted to the production of medium and low carbon ferrochromium. Altogether some 10,000t of mainly medium carbon ferrochrome was produced and granulated at the plant.
The Micro-Mill concept for Stainless:
Ability to rapidly change grades. Exploit markets niches in specialty alloy production. Equipment suited to producing a wide range of products. Size tailored to suit arising of local high quality scrap.
Long Product Production Square Billet:
They matched to the demands of a small but dynamic market environment. Commissioned and operated with relatively low capital investment relative to large mills (Please see downloadable document for Micro-Mill Sepecfication). Commissioned, the plant is modern, with the most modern equipment and metallurgical skill incorporated in it’s design. Design capacity 80,000 – 100,000 tons per annum (depending on grade). Full Triplex Metallurgical process allows for highest possible quality of alloy. Small heat size allows for optimum short switch time. Purpose built for production of extremely wide variety of stainless and specialty alloy grade steels, in billet form (130x160mm square; 6-12m long).
